Chapter 10 The Plan Ahead of Schedule
Chapter 10 The Plan Ahead of Schedule
The Crescent University is one of the top universities in the Democratic Republic of Saint Petersburg, and it also ranks highly among the many universities in the Quadrilateral Alliance.
When Jiang Yanming arrived at this familiar school and came to the corridor outside Professor Tarot's private classroom, he saw many burly men in black wearing headsets observing the surroundings.
"Mr. Jiang, please."
A burly man in black recognized Jiang Yanming and let him into the classroom.
This is a large lecture hall; even a hundred people listening to a lecture wouldn't feel crowded. Right now, only eight people are sitting here.
"She's here too..." Jiang Yanming walked into the classroom, his gaze sweeping over the empty room, and his eyes were immediately drawn to one person.
She was a beautiful woman with long, flowing silver hair, exquisite features, a slender and shapely figure, and a quiet and elegant demeanor.
"Jiang, over here."
Arthur sat next to the beautiful woman and waved to Jiang Yanming.
"Arthur, Lucy." Jiang Yanming knew he couldn't avoid it, so he simply walked over and greeted them. "Why are you two here today too?"
Lucy is Arthur's cousin, the world's most beautiful and wealthy woman.
"The professor sent us," Arthur shrugged. "Otherwise, I'd be looking at reports right now."
"It must be something important," Lucy said casually, then asked, "Why didn't you attend the banquet last time?"
Jiang Yanming sat down next to Arthur and asked in confusion, "What kind of banquet?"
"It seems you didn't receive an invitation," Lucy said softly.
"I told him right then and there that Jiang hadn't received an invitation," Arthur said helplessly.
"Okay, I understand." Lucy nodded slightly.
"What kind of banquet is it?" Jiang Yanming asked Arthur.
"It's a retirement dinner hosted by the professor. Lucy, the senior students, and I all received invitations." Arthur asked with a strange expression, "Did you offend the professor? Otherwise, why did everyone else receive an invitation but you didn't?"
"I don't recall offending the professor," Jiang Yanming smiled upon hearing this. "Perhaps the professor has forgotten about me."
Despite saying that, he didn't think so in his heart, and even deduced that the professor deliberately didn't invite him.
Could the professor's retirement date be the date that contract takes effect?
"Everyone's here." Arthur glanced down at his watch, then looked up at the monitor above the classroom podium. "Judging by the time, the professor should be here soon."
Another minute passed.
blah blah blah...
Professor Tarot, wearing a black crew-neck hat and a black winter coat, walked slowly into the classroom, carrying a briefcase in one hand and leaning on a silver-tipped cane in the other.
"professor."
The five doctoral students sitting in the front were the first to stand up and call out.
"professor."
Jiang Yanming, Arthur, and Lucy also stood up.
"Please sit down." Professor Tarot walked to the podium, placed his briefcase on the lectern, and said to everyone in a gentle voice, "The main reason I've gathered you all here today is to announce something."
Everyone listened quietly.
"At the last banquet, I announced that I would be retiring this September, but due to some issues, my retirement plans have to be brought forward. I called everyone here to inform you of that."
Professor Tarot glanced around at everyone, finally settling on Jiang Yanming. "Jiang knows about my retirement plans, which is why I didn't invite him to the last banquet."
Jiang Yanming felt the gazes of the crowd and nodded slightly in affirmation.
"I will be retiring early, in the middle of next month," Professor Taro reassured you. "But don't worry, my retirement will not delay your studies. I will assist you in perfecting your experiments and graduation theses."
"In addition, I will recommend that you study under the excellent professors of our school to continue your studies and ensure that you graduate smoothly."
Professor Tarot's words made the five doctoral students ahead very nervous, but thankfully they landed safely in the end.
"Alright, now come up one by one and sign the recommendation letters," Professor Tarot said softly.
"Professor, I'll go first." A doctoral student stepped forward first.
"Jiang, are you going to continue your doctoral studies?" Arthur asked.
"No." Jiang Yanming shook his head; he wasn't interested.
Now all he could think about was how to get rid of the Tarot professor on the podium!
He had considered taking action now, but he couldn't be sure if Professor Tarot had any backup plans, and the cost of killing a professor in public was too high, forcing him to abandon this reckless idea.
"I won't be pursuing a PhD. I have to help my grandfather with company affairs, so I don't have much time to do PhDs or experiments," Arthur said to himself. "Actually, I quite enjoy doing experiments; it allows me to completely relax."
"Arthur, Lucy, Jiang, it's your turn," Professor Tarot's voice rang out.
"Coming right away," Arthur replied immediately, then waved for Jiang Yanming to come over.
Jiang Yanming stood up and asked Arthur to leave. When he turned to look at Professor Tarot on the podium, he found that the other party was looking at him with a smile. Seeing this, he could only nod slightly in response.
"I'll go first." After seeing Arthur sign and receive the letter of recommendation, Jiang Yanming said to Lucy and got up to walk towards the podium.
"Jiang, these are your recommendation letters." Professor Tarot smiled as he handed over three recommendation letters, and then took out two documents from his briefcase. "Oh, and this is the supplementary agreement to that contract. You can sign it as well."
"No problem." Jiang Yanming glanced at the document and confirmed that it was a supplementary agreement to the deadly contract, used to change the contract date, so he simply signed it as well.
"You will be a billionaire." Professor Tarot smiled and handed the documents and recommendation letter to Jiang Yanming.
"Thank you, Professor." Jiang Yanming nodded and accepted the documents and letter of recommendation, then brushed past Lucy who was walking over.
"This is a letter of recommendation that I got through my own efforts, but unfortunately I can't use it." As soon as Jiang Yanming returned, he saw Arthur casually folding up the letter of recommendation.
"Jiang, our student life is coming to an end. Aren't you going to say anything?" Arthur asked, turning his head.
"There's nothing to say," Jiang Yanming shook his head.
If the world hadn't changed, he might have had some ideas, but now he's more concerned with how to send the professor off in his final days!
"Even though we've graduated, aren't you still friends?" Lucy's melodious voice rang out.
"Yes!" Arthur laughed, putting his arm around Jiang Yanming's neck. "Jiang is my only friend, my true friend."
"Okay, I understand." Jiang Yanming nodded helplessly.
clap clap!
Professor Tarot clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention, then said, "As someone who's about to retire, I wish you all the best for the future. Now you can all go back."
After saying that, Professor Tarot picked up his briefcase, leaned on his silver-tipped cane, and left the classroom.
A few minutes later.
Back in his office, Professor Tarot took out his specially made phone and dialed a number.
"It's me. The plan is to move it forward to the 10th of next month. Your people can come now."
"Don't worry, the test subject will be fine, he will definitely show up."
"I know, aren't you all still here?"
"Okay, then that's settled."
