Chapter 371 Shen Yuege is a filial child
Chapter 371 Shen Yuege is a filial child
The next morning, when Lu Ran got on the bus, he found that Shen Yuege had already put away the small bed in the booth area and raised the adjustable table, which had two cups of coffee and two sandwiches on it.
"Where's the crib?" Lu Ran asked casually.
"Take it. It's in the way."
"Where are you sleeping tonight?"
Shen Yuege rolled her eyes at him, then picked up a sandwich and took a bite: "The big bed. You sleep in the big bed too."
Lu Ran was overjoyed inside, but tried her best to remain calm on the surface: "Oh, okay. So, are you sleeping inside or outside?"
Is there a difference?
"Of course there is. The person sleeping inside has to step over the person sleeping outside to go to the toilet at night, but the person sleeping outside doesn't have to."
Shen Yuege glanced at him: "Then I'll sleep inside. Just don't snore at night."
"I told you I don't snore when I sleep."
"I had it done last night."
"That was an accident. We don't usually get it."
Shen Yuege was too lazy to argue with him, so she finished her sandwich and slowly drank her coffee.
Lu Ran started the RV and continued driving south along G228.
Today's plan is to start from Wenzhou and enter Fujian Province, with Fuzhou as our first stop.
The journey is about 300 kilometers and takes more than four hours by car.
Once on the highway, the road conditions were excellent, there wasn't much traffic, and on both sides were rolling hills. The vegetation on the mountains was greener than in Zhejiang Province, and the air carried a humid, sea-like scent.
Shen Yuege wore a light pink sweatshirt today, her hair was loose, and she wasn't wearing makeup. Her bare face made her look several years younger than her actual age.
She leaned back in the passenger seat, an open book on her lap, but her eyes weren't on the book; she was looking out the window at the scenery.
"Fujian Province is quite different from Zhejiang Province," she said.
"How are they different?"
"The mountains are greener, and the air is more humid. The mountains in Zhejiang Province have a bit of a northern feel, while the mountains in Fujian Province have a southern feel."
Lu Ran didn't understand the difference between Northern and Southern flavors, but he thought Shen Yuege's words made sense.
It was already 2 PM when we arrived in Fuzhou.
Lu Ran parked the RV in a parking lot near Sanfang Qixiang, and the two of them got out to explore.
Sanfang Qixiang is the old town of Fuzhou, which began to take shape during the Jin and Tang Dynasties and still retains more than 200 ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Lu Ran didn't know much about these old houses, but he felt that walking on these bluestone pavements was quite nice, much more comfortable than walking among the skyscrapers of Shanghai.
Shen Yuege was very interested and wanted to go into every house to take a look. After visiting each house, she would ask the locals some questions.
What about questions like "What era is this beam frame from?", "What is the meaning of this wood carving?", and "Who lived in this courtyard?"
Lu Ran followed behind, feeling that he couldn't answer any of the questions she asked.
When Shen Yuege visited the Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, she stood in front of Lin Zexu's statue for a long time.
"Do you know what Lin Zexu is most famous for?" she asked Lu Ran.
"The burning of opium at Humen".
"Anything else?"
"You served as the Governor-General of Shaanxi and Gansu?"
"That happened later. I was referring to what he said."
Lu Ran thought for a moment: "If it benefits the country, I will risk my life; how can I avoid it because of personal gain or loss?"
Shen Yuege nodded: "You actually knew that."
"I've also gone to elementary school, don't underestimate me."
Shen Yuege smiled, didn't reply, and continued walking inside.
It was almost dark when we came out of Sanfang Qixiang.
Lu Ran originally wanted to find a place to stay in Fushi for one night, but Shen Yuege said that Fushi was too noisy and that it would be better to go west into the mountains and find a quiet place to stay.
Lu Ran agreed and got in the car, heading west.
After driving for more than an hour, we entered the mountainous area of central Fujian.
The road narrowed, with mountains on both sides, covered in dense bamboo forests that rustled in the wind.
Shen Yuege rolled down the car window and took a deep breath: "The air here is a hundred times better than in Shanghai."
"Of course. How many people are in one square kilometer in Shanghai? How many people are in one square kilometer here? How could the air quality be bad?"
The two found a campervan campground, parked their vehicle, and connected to water and electricity.
Lu Ran cooked dinner, while Shen Yuege sat in a booth looking at her phone and dealing with some emails from the studio.
During dinner, the two watched another movie. This time, Shen Yuege didn't laugh much because it was an art film with a slow pace. She started yawning halfway through.
"Tired?" Lu Ran asked.
"Yeah. I walked too much today, my legs are a little sore."
"Then go to bed early."
After the two finished cleaning up the dishes, Shen Yuege took a shower, changed into a set of cotton pajamas, dried her hair, and tied it into a bun.
She walked to the large bed and glanced at Lu Ran: "Are you sleeping on the outside or the inside?"
"Go outside. If you need to get up at night, you don't have to step over me."
"I don't get up at night. I'm always a very sound sleeper."
"Didn't you run from the small bed to the big bed last night?"
Shen Yuege blushed at his words, didn't reply, climbed into bed, lay down on the side by the window, pulled the blanket up to her chin, and turned her back to Lu Ran.
Lu Ran turned off the light, got into bed, and lay down on the outer side.
The two people were about 30 centimeters apart.
The carriage was quiet, and you could hear the chirping of insects outside the window.
Lu Ran lay there for a while, then turned over and faced Shen Yuege.
Shen Yuege was facing away from him, motionless, breathing evenly, but Lu Ran knew she wasn't asleep.
Because her breathing rhythm is different from when she is truly asleep.
He stared at her back in the darkness for a few seconds, then reached out and casually placed his hand on her waist.
It was very light, like something you bumped into accidentally.
Shen Yuege's body stiffened slightly, but she neither pushed his hand away nor said anything.
Lu Ran simply left his hand there, making no further move.
About a minute later, Shen Yuege's voice came from the darkness: "Was this accidental or intentional?"
"It was an accident," Lu Ran lied without batting an eye.
"You put your hand on my waist and call it an accident? Were you still half asleep?"
"Maybe. I'm a restless sleeper."
Shen Yuege was silent for a few seconds, then said in a way she herself couldn't believe: "If you're not going to be honest, then don't be honest. Just don't go too far."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ran was momentarily stunned, then his eyes filled with delight.
I never expected this little girl to have such a bright idea; I must seize this opportunity.
Lu Ran's hand lingered on her waist for a moment, then he pulled her slightly closer to him.
Shen Yuege did not resist. She moved her body towards him with his force, and the distance between the two of them shrank from thirty centimeters to zero centimeters.
Lu Ran could smell the fragrance of her hair; it was a very light shampoo scent, unlike the strong perfume she used in Shanghai.
He moved his arm away from her waist, slipped it under her neck, and let her rest her head on his arm. He then wrapped his other arm around her, pulling her into his embrace.
Lu Ran's hand started from his upper body and slowly slid down. When his hand passed his abdomen and continued down, Shen Yuege blocked it with her hand.
With no other option, Lu Ran could only move upwards again to occupy the high ground.
It must be said that Shen Yuege is truly a filial child.
Shen Yuege lay in Lu Ran's arms, looking completely at him, which made Lu Ran even more excited.
After giving Shen Yuege a full-body massage, Lu Ran hugged her from behind.
Feeling the warmth of Lu Ran's chest, being held by him like this, after a while, Shen Yuege's body slowly softened from stiffness, and her breathing changed from rapid to even.
She pressed her back against his chest, snuggling into his arms like a cat that had found a comfortable nest.
"Can you sleep like this?" she asked softly.
"I can sleep. How about you?"
"Give it a try."
A few minutes later, Shen Yuege's breathing became even and long; this time she had truly fallen asleep.
Lu Ran held her in his arms and felt that the temperature of the person in his arms was just right, neither too hot nor too cold, like a human-shaped hot water bottle.
He closed his eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips, and quickly fell asleep.
He slept soundly that night, without dreaming or waking up in the middle of the night, and slept until dawn.
When he woke up in the morning, he found that his hand had somehow slid from her waist to her lower abdomen.
Shen Yuege was already awake and was looking at him with her head turned to the side.
"Your hand," she said.
Lu Ran looked down, his face flushed, and he quickly withdrew his hand: "You're such a restless sleeper, you're such a restless sleeper."
Shen Yuege glared at him, but there was no anger in her eyes. Instead, there was a hint of a smile that was hard to describe.
"Get up. We still have a long journey to go today." She threw off the covers and sat up, her hair disheveled and her face flushed from just waking up.
Lu Ran lay on the bed watching her retreating figure as she headed to the bathroom, feeling that he would watch this scene for the rest of his life.
For the next few days, the two slept in the same bed every night.
Lu Ran's relationship evolved from "accidentally putting his hand to hers" to "actively cuddling her to sleep".
Shen Yuege gradually evolved from being stiff and unnatural at first to "when she woke up in the morning, she turned over at some point and buried her face in Lu Ran's chest".
The invisible bond between the two people was gradually torn apart within the small space of the RV.
Aside from hitting home runs, Shen Yuege is no longer averse to hugging, kissing, and touching.
Sometimes, when sitting in the car, Shen Yuege would lean on his shoulder.
Sometimes when they were walking in the scenic area, Shen Yuege would take his hand.
Sometimes before going to sleep at night, Shen Yuege would snuggle into his arms.
Lu Ran felt that this kind of life was too good, so good that he wondered if he was dreaming.
I drive around enjoying the scenery during the day and sleep with my wife at night, without having to think about the company, the competitors, or the data.
Is there anything happier in the world?
If so, then it might be...
