Chapter 48: Investigation of The Bloody YearThe main problem here was that gene was what determined their pheromones later on. In this world where genes and pheromones were one of the most important aspects of life... his future was grim. His parents soon had a solution after their re
Arren was admiring the alpha when Spade looked at him, their eyes met, and Arren smiled sweetly. He wanted to start flirting immediately, but he restrained himself because they weren’t the only ones in the room. Arren would never, ever overlook Rave Amos.
Spade’s amber pupils glistened, and Arren could tell he was glad to see him even without his lips curving up. As a result, his smile broadened, and his eyes sparkled. After a few seconds, Spade looked to the side, as did Arren, before returning his gaze to Spade, who now had a deep look in his eyes. Rave was being scrutinized as Spade watched him intently.
Arren’s smile faded, fell silent, and only watched from the sidelines. It was the first time he had seen Spade so solemn and with his Emperor expression, which he never used on Arren.
"Your Majesty," Rave bowed, remaining as gentle as always. His graceful demeanor alone revealed that he came from a noble family. Arren sipped his tea as he observed the scene unfolding before him.
Some excitement surged within him; yes, he had already accepted the world and would no longer look at everyone from a reader’s perspective. But for someone who had only read about them, seeing them meet in real life was way too satisfying.
Even the perfect book adaptation couldn’t compete; after all, they were the real people behind the book. Arren laughed as he remembered how he had previously shipped the two of them. He now only ships himself to Spade and no one else.
Spade nodded, his amber pupils narrowing as he studied Rave. On the other hand, the latter never dared to meet Spade’s gaze and only bowed, though he didn’t appear nervous either.
Arren fixed his gaze on Spade, sipped his tea, and then cast a glance at Rave. He tilted his head slightly to the side.
Spade appeared to be staring too intently at the omega, but there was something about the serious look he gave Rave. He seemed to be testing him, looking for information about him.
"Hm," Spade replied, averting his intimidating gaze and casting a glance at Arren, who appeared to be watching some drama on the sidelines. His solemn expression vanished in an instant. He then took another step forward, loosening his cuffs. "You may go now," he continued without looking at the white-haired omega.
Spade’s full attention was once again captured by him until he was in front of Arren, who didn’t hide the fact that he was watching them.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Rave replied, bowing once more before dismissing himself. Arren glanced at the omega, unaware that Spade was now staring at him. He kept an eye on the omega until he left the room.
"Interested in him?" A deep voice reached Arren’s ears, causing him to immediately glance at his front and meet Spade’s amber eyes. They were facing each other, with only a small table among them.
Spade looked at him as he leaned to the side. His entire demeanor screamed authority, something that ordinary people couldn’t learn. Arren realized how stupid he had been for not suspecting Spade’s identity despite the fact that his entire being was proof of it.
Arren set the cup down with a sheepish grin on his face, but he wasn’t too embarrassed that the alpha had caught him staring at Rave.
"He was a gorgeous omega... after all, I see you staring at him as well," he nodded. Arren responded and probed at the end, his tone a little soft. He wasn’t jealous; he just wanted to know why Spade was staring so intently at Rave or his intention.
Spade pressed his lips together and looked at him more intently. However, because he saw nothing wrong with Arren’s expression, he sighed and said, "I’m just investigating something."
Arren’s ears grew larger, and his attention was drawn.
"Oh, what does the attendant have to do with it?" He probed again, knowing full well that he wasn’t an expert and that the alpha easily discerned his intent.
As he stared at Arren, Spade’s brow rose, and a ghost of a smile appeared on his face. His amber eyes flashed with adoration. The omega, who still had a questioning look on his face, didn’t know he had been caught. Even if Arren was aware, he was shameless enough not to care.
The alpha did not expose him but rather satisfied his curiosity. "He was related to it, his family."
Arren’s phoenix eyes glinted as he realized what was going on. Spade was now looking into what happened during that Bloody Year. His heart relaxed; well, this was a little ahead of the plot.
If he could remember, Spade would only be interested in that case after the incident at the Moonlight Festival next year. A scandal involving several alphas going berserk in public.
This time, however, Arren was certain he had something to do with it. After all, he was now aware he had a connection from that incident. . A sweet smile appeared on his lips, and his fingers traced the teacup’s handle. His entire being was enveloped in an inexplicable warmth. Even though it wasn’t said outright, this small action showed Arren how lucky he was to meet Spade.
Spade fell silent as well as if mesmerized by Arren and unable to take his gaze away from the omega’s face. Arren appeared to have an effect on the alpha as well, their hearts being connected. Even the ambiguous air that they both recognized shrouded them once more.
They weren’t admitting it yet, and they might not have addressed their relationship. However, the glances and even the way they interact with each other confirm everything. They both already claim each other as their own.
